Central Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum
(2003 - 2007)
The project was jointly designed by the Architectural Design Institute of the China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd. and Japan Isozaki New Architects, with a construction area of approximately 14,800 square meters. The overall architectural shape and layout of the project strive to be unified in comparison with the surrounding environment. The shape is mainly surrounded by three-dimensional curved shells with different curvatures on three sides, and there are rectangular protrusions locally. The non-linear outer contour blurs the boundary between the roof and the wall, and the stone pieces on the outer wall are arranged in a manner similar to the traditional tile roof, showing the state of integration of oriental architecture with the environment. The euphemistic curved shell not only perfectly integrates with the shape of the existing plot in appearance, giving people an elegant and dignified vision, but also adds rich expressions to the spatial shape of the internal exhibition hall. The internal space connects various different spaces using ramps, atriums and other elements. It is not only used as the background of the artwork, but also with the natural light from the zenith, making the space also full of artistic temperament, interacting with the artwork, blending and enriching each other. In change. The interior space design not only respects the needs of display and exhibition, but also reflects the atmosphere of the times and the sense of the future of the building itself.

The building plan is arranged as a rectangle with a long east-west direction and a short north-south direction. The architectural design has a typical "Ticino School" architectural design style: adopting the design idea of "subtraction", from the monolithic boulder, the architectural shape with simple volume and strong contrast between virtual and real is carved out. Pay attention to the use of natural light in the interior and exterior of the building, which embodies the simple, clear, powerful and introverted architectural style of the building.
